Oh great, another new guy.

Hello gentlemen! I have sadly parted ways with my Audi S4 and am now on the G37wagon. I got my black 2012 Infiniti G37x with 22,318 miles last week. I have a ton of questions. I am reading the manual now, and have been perusing your fine forums for a week now, but still have a few questions and or clarifications. I won't inundate you all with them all at once.

Anyone using the front Cigarette lighter for phone charging? The manual says not to. I will be using the storage compartment one anyway, but in case of emergency Id like to know my options.

Has anyone installed the Canada only storage web in the trunk?

My g37:

Oh, and the companies infiniti:

Uh, I use the cig lighter for charging phones. Maybe this is the time to take the shrink wrap off my owner's manual?

idkno about not using it for a charger.... have used mine in the past, works fine. I now use the center console but was planning to start using front one eventually when I get a phone mount.
I do know for one thing I saved my lighter from my last car thinking it would work in that slot, sadly I can tell you it does not work.

car looks clean. good score on the milege. what state was the car driven in? I just picked up my 11 with 35000 on it tho I live in Boston so car has some runs I'm not to fond of.

I use the center console for my charger and Bluetooth receiver solely because I hate seeing wires hanging everywhere. I haven't unplugged it in almost 2 years.

I use my lighter port to charge my phone and power my dash cam. Haven't noticed any issues yet.

my car wasn't equipped with a cigarette lighter and ashtray, so it's a non issue. I can't imagine it would damage anything.

i hard wired a USB port on the lower driver side of the center stack, so when i do put my phone in a mount, i don't have cables everywhere.

wired over to the fusebox with an "add-a-circuit".

to keep even less cluttered, i use a retractable charging cable.

I dont use the cigarette lighter but I use the port in the center console when I need a rapid charge. The USB port seems to be much slower for me.

Welcome to the forums BTW

The OEM USB is terribly slow, get an actual Qualcomm quick charger in the center console never look back.

You are not supposed to plug the phone into the cig lighter before you turn on the car..the surge in power can fry the phone. But if you plug it in after its started you should have no issues at all. Thats the only no no I have heard of with regards to using the cigarette lighter to charge the phone

Those Qualcomms, mentioned above, have a surge protector. I could see what you mentioned being an issue in the early 2000s (would explain the batteries people used to go through) but you should be ok
