How Big Sub Amp Can I Use

How much power from a sub amp can I use without overpowering the stock electrical system? I'm getting ready to install two 10" subs in a Super Crew Sound enclosure wired for 4 ohms in my 08 G37 Coupe. I've been looking at a Zapco ST-1650XM ll mono amp that outputs 750 RMS at 4 ohms. Is this too much power for the stock system to handle without struggling?
Thanks, Sam

Anything you add that isn't factory will stress your electrical system. Alternators in these cars are designed for OEM equipment, not aftermarket. I'd go ahead with the 750w amp, then upgrade your battery and do the "big 3" with 0 gauge wire if you're paranoid.

edit: get a shop to build you a box. Prefab stuff sucks. And what kind of subs?

If you keep the amp at 4 ohms you will be fine with the stock set up.

I wouldn't upgrade the electrical until you actually need it. Larger alternators are available.
I would start with a better battery and new grounds.

You could always add a capacitor to help with the big thumps.

Already bought one. Just deciding on the amp. I've got an Alpine MRX-M100 (600 rms @ 4 ohms) that I could take out of my other car but I can't decide if I want to do that.

I am using 2 Crunch 1000w amps, with 2.5 farad cap. I have added more grounds. With the system up and ac,lights and wipers, the digital volt meter i have never drops below 12.7...
I hope this helps

I've thought about adding a cap but I haven't seen any issues running my Alpine MRV-M500 @ 2ohms 500w RMS pushing an Alpine SWS-10D4.

That's what I was hoping for. I seldom crank the crap out of it, I just want a nice solid, tight, bottom end which the Blose doesn't have. I imagine later on that I'll change out all of the speakers and go to a different amp set up for them. I can't see any reason to replace the head unit if what I've read is true that it has Burr-Brown dacs in it. Burr-Brown's are about as good as it gets.

I've always used caps. I know there's a lot of debate about whether they help, or not, but they're not expensive or difficult to install. Can't hurt.

Just remember buy a larger amp so you don't have to run it at full gain

Always, better to have too much power than not enough.

Very few (if any) amps should ever be ran at full gain.

You're adding a might higher risk of noise and a chance to send a boosted clipped signal.

Capacitors help with smaller systems but a battery is a better option for large set ups.
