I got android audio working on my 2010 G37 non nav! (wirelinq)

This isn't a promotion or anything I'm just really glad that I don't need to use an fm transmitter anymore.

Got this product in the mail today Wirelinq - Smart USB Android Car Converter Cable . It already came on the latest firmware but it's nice to know I can update it for fixes.

Setup was pretty easy, this is from their website.
1. Download the Dashlinq app from Google® Play StorePlay Store
2. Set up the app with the plugins that you want to use. For G-Music plugin make sure to login to your Play Music account, for Spotify® plugin make sure to login to Spotify.
3. Connect Wirelinq to the stereo and to your phone. Dashlinq will automatically pop-up with the message "Open Dashlinq when this USB accessory is connected?"
4. Mark "Use by default for this USB accessory" and click "OK"
IMPORTANT: Disconnect and reconnect your phone and Wirelinq after you click "OK".
Audio quality is great, setup was easy, no real complaints but there is a few things I noticed that could probably be fixed later.

(This is using google music on my Google Pixel, other sources may be different)

1. Sometimes when changing to a new song you hear static, clicking pause then play fixes this

2. When you change songs from the phone only the time will stay up to date in the display. If you change songs using the controls on the steering wheel then the name, artist, ect will also update.

3. The USB C cable is very high quality from what I can tell. I heard that if there's a seam then the cable could be dangerous for your phone. Not the case here, it is one piece of metal. Also it's a shiny silver which matches my car's interior better than a plain black or white cable could. Picture explaining - http://cdn01.androidauthority.net/wp...-e-840x614.jpg

So yeah, pretty happy with my purchase

Update: 8/31/17 firmware update completely fixed static

Update: 8/12/18 doesn't work with pixel 2. If you want a more reliable solution see post #16 below for my experience

Yeah here's the charge I got from a 40 minute commute. Not much but it's something. Also I noticed when playing a long edm mix that the static thing occurred like every 10 minutes. Pause and play fixed it but it's a small annoyance

So I looked on there site and they give 2 options of cables. Micro USB and Type-C USB. Which one is compatible with a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge?

Galaxy S7 and older (like up to S5) = Micro USB

Galaxy S8 = USB C

Thanks.....that's what I thought. I'm about to dump this phone and upgrade so I guess I'll order the USB-C.

I haven't been able to get my Wirelinq to work with my non-nav 2011 G37, using a Samsung Galaxy S7. I never got the "Dashlinq will automatically pop-up with the message "Open Dashlinq when this USB accessory is connected?" Mark "Use by default for this USB accessory" and click "OK" message, so maybe that's the issue. Anyone else have trouble with this? I emailed Grom tech support, but they haven't been very helpful.

Update

Update: I just updated the firmware on the cable through their website and the static issue has seemed to disappear but I'll need to do a longer test next time I drive somewhere

Edit: It still comes on every 3 minutes or so but isn't as intense as before. Also the song updates on the head unit now when you change songs on the phone, not just by hitting next on the steering wheel. Also pause/play works now, it didn't before

With the app not installed does it open the app page in the play store? Also there might be a setting to enable usb-otg on your phone

Bump

Bump: with the August 31st firmware update all static is gone. New issue has arised however - when listening to YouTube videos it will get stuck on reading file when it tries to play the next video. Disabling auto play and manually selecting the next video is a workaround

This old post isn't viral enough.

I just bought myself a 2011 coupe S and I gotta say, I probably spent the better of 3 hours scouring the internet for a way to add bluetooth or at least USB functionality for us android users. At last I've stumbled upon this post. Seriously guys; I needed this post. Thanks.
