Amp output wattage?
Parts Express is a good place to start as is Madisound. I would be careful of what you used though as they both sell speakers for a wide range of applications. Lots of reviews of various car appropriate soeakers at diymobileaudio.com
I would personally be wary of just adding an amp to some of the factory speakers. It could work well and it could sound like doo doo. Thats why my plan involves using a DSP (maybe 2 - lots of channels in these cars) so that I can control exactly what each speaker is up to. I don't know if you've seen it, but if you google "The Art of JDM Sound G37" you can see a full tilt build similar to what I'm describing (although with a much higher budget than I'm planning).

Fair enough - But my statement still applies. I wouldn't want to go through the effort unless it meant I had some real control over the setup. As you've laid it out all you'll gain is some volume and a seperate gain on those speakers. Still limited to the factory eq/time delay/channel settings.

Well yes, and hoping to gain SQ as well.. But you don't think that's possible without an SP?
This came to be my solution. It takes some fitment persuasion but its provided the best sound in this application that Ive run across so far.

Nice off axis sound, nothing harsh, no beaming, bright and clear. I have four in the car, two in the front doors and two in the rear seat. Not sure four are absolutely necessary but it does give a greater SPL to balance out the subs

I have a coupe. No, I don't do response curves as I do not want to invest in the equipment. I've heard systems set up by instrument and usually don't like they way they sound anyway
