OBDII to USB?

Hey guys,

Just did an Uprev tune yesterday from Rob and I didn't buy the Cipher Osiris Cable (225) is this the only cable that works if I wanted to flash back to stock map? I've seen some OBDII to USB cables on amazon but not sure if it would work.

Thank you for any information.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing since they're identical minus the actual "Cipher" stamp on the plug. I would assume the OBDII to USB diagnostic plug on Amazon for $8 would work..

I would like to assume so as well, just afraid of cheap quality internals that would freeze during data transfer....?

Unless you can write your own software and understand how to unlock/program the ECU, a generic OBD cable will not work.

I am 99% sure the Uprev software is locked to the serial number on the Uprev cable.
This is how they protect their intellectual property.

Hey kavcheung, I can't weigh in on your question, but just wanted to ask if you're happy with your uprev. I'm pretty done spending money on the G, all I would really want to do now is high-flow cats and a tune for some actual power. Worth all the cash?

Lets see, the fan favorite nowadays seem to be Ecutek over Uprev. I've never had Ecutek so I obviously cannot compare. After the Uprev tune the car does feel 'snappier" and more "lively". I don't think its a HUGE improvement to be honest. I just WISHED it came this way stock!

I like the way the car feels after the tune, makes it more enjoyable to drive for sure. This is the best way I can answer your question. I don't know if its worth the cash per say but I CAN TELL YOU that I don't regret spending the money on it.

The only slight "regret" would be maybe getting Uprev instead since of Ecutek since everyone raves about it.

Let us know what you decide to do!

I've fitted HKS filters, AAM Competition Y Pipe and Hi Flo Cats and then Ecutek tuned her - increased the power from 320 stock to about 345hp

It's quite a lot of money to gain 25 horses, but as kavcheung says it feels much better, the power comes through smoother , and she's much nicer to drive.

Only you can say whether it was worth the (approx) $1600 it'll have cost you to get to this point . . . . .

As an FYI, the 2008 doesn't have the option of EcuTek so I'm SOL.
