Reading file fix

Hi All, new here, just picked up a 2011 G37 last weekend for my wife, very very impressed with it so far, just one slight problem.

Playing music through the usb slot in the center consol, my and her iPhone 6 play music fine, but her slightly older iPod nano doesn't. The center screen just freezes on reading file when the cable is connected. Tried a different cable, same thing, I had a quick search and can't find anything on this. Is there a fix, or something I can try. It's a non nav screen. Any help is appreciated

Also, check the file structure on the Nano.

No idea on the iOS, I imagine it's quite an old version, hasn't been updated for 3 or so years. Could that be the problem?

A reboot didn't do anything.

I've ordered an Infiniti 30 pin iPod connection cable, maybe that is why it's not working. But I've been using a standard Apple cable on the iPhone and iPod, wouldn't have thought it would have made sense that one works but the other doesn't. I'll see Monday when it gets here.

I have an '11 vert and have a similar issue with my iPhone 4s with ios 9. It worked fine until I put ios 9 on the phone, then issues similar to what you are having started to pop up. I don't have the Infiniti 30 pin adapter...I just use the Apple usb cable. I think the adapter is for older model Gs that don'y have USB....not sure though.

Guess I'll try and get the iPod updated over the weekend and see if that makes a difference. Both phones are on ios9. iPod will be real old, think we got it in about '10, so sure it would work. I'll update if I find any solutions.

Just an update for anyone who may stumble across this page with the same problem.
My ipod nano was on iOS version 1.1.2, updating it to the latest version, iOS 1.1.3 fixed the problem. The G reads the ipod fine, all steering wheel and stereo control work as they should. Thanks for the help and advice.
