After months of trying I discovered a reliable way to get Pandora to play through the USB/iPod connection in AUX mode through my 2010 G37 standard audio unit. Start with car OFF (critical step), plug in iPhone (mine is a 6) to usb/lightening cable. Start Pandora. Start car and you'll hear a phone charge tone when the car recognizes your phone. With stereo on and in AUX Pandora will be recognized and will play instead of iTunes. Critical step is to start with car off and Pandora on/playing. Works every time when I follow these steps.
