The Ipod connection is great. But my ipod goes dead. Do I have a blown fuse or something? Seems goofy that it doesnt charge it.

Yeah. Theres nothing wrong with your car. This is normal. There are several adaptors such as the Scosche Passport, that connect between the cable and iPod and allow it to charge. When iPod updated there firmware they diabled the charge feature from 12v systems or something along that line.

There are 2 types of ipod connections in the G37. one where you use your iphone/ipod cable (you know the white one that came with the iphone/ipod) or the cable that came with the car that is black and has a square connection in the center console and goes to an ipod connector. IF your car has the option to use your original iphone/ipod cable then it will charge, but if your car has its own cable then you will need
Scosche passPORT Charging Adapter for iPhone 3G - Apple Store (U.S.)
or a similar device.

Mine definitely charges it. Or at least keeps it on. I have the black port.
I think it depends on what iPod you are using. I have an older model (40GB iPod Photo) and mine works fine. I do need to reset it to turn it on sometimes, but once it's on, it pulls power from the car and works fine.

It is not a firmware issue but a connector issue. I have an 08 G37S and the standard cable that came with the car charges older IPods just fine (i.e. my original IPod classic that i have had for many years) but does not charge later generation IPods. I bought an adapter (can't remember which brand but there are multiple) that goes between the IPod and the cable and it works great with my later generation IPods. There are some threads on here regarding this issue. I used the search tool to find them last year when I ran into this issue.

yes people ... just buy the adapter and all your non-charging iPods will now charge just fine.
