I'm sure you tried this, but I usually have to start playing a song through my music app, then transition over to a streaming app (spotify, pandora etc).

^^^ This is what I have to do as well... Does anyone know of a connection kit to have my iPhone 6 display on my screen? I don't have nav, so can't connect with the RGB kit...

You need to have at least 1 song downloaded in your Apple Music App, then you can switch over to any other music app you have.

I also suggest doing a hard reset on your iPhone. I believe that is done by holding the home and power button at the same time until the Apple logo appears. This has worked for me when I’m having difficulty connecting or I can’t change the song from the steering wheel despite disconnecting and reconnecting. I find the iPod integration is not very slick in our cars but it does the job I suppose.
