What is Inverter VCC?

Calling all AV system gurus!

Hello all,

First: '08 Coupe, Bose, non-NAV

Can someone explain what the "Inverter VCC" signal wires that are part of the harness connected to the display are for? I did a search for VCC but can't find a definitive definition or purpose.

I'm in the process of undertaking a new project (if I can ever source the parts from Japan) and while pouring over the FSM for the AV system these wires are shown yet I have no clue what they're for. In all actuality they will probably have nothing to do with the project itself but I'm curious as to their function.

Thanks to all in advance.

Alex

VCC is universal for power input. In this instance, it is the power input for the inverter used to power the backlight for the LCD. The inverter is a DC-DC converter circuit that generates about 150-300V for the compact florescent lamps in the backlight system. I haven't disassembled the AV section of my car but I'm guessing the inverter and backlight assemblies are heavily insulated given the relatively high voltages found there

Makes perfectly good sense. Won't affect my project but helps to know what those wires in the harness are for.

Thanks for the reply!!
