Dashcam Hardwiring: Which fuse?

I'm planning to hardwire my dashcam to my 2011 G37 Coupe and was not sure which fuse I should wire to.

Has anyone had experience doing this before?

I'm looking for a fuse that is always on to tap into.

yes. I just did it on mine. Use one of the fuse slot called "Elec Parts". That's the Homelink mirror fuse.

What you need to get is this:

Amazon.com : FAST Shipping* ADD CIRCUIT BLADE STYLE ATM APS ATT LOW PROFILE MINI FUSE HOLDER FUSE TAP + FUSE SET 5, 7.5, 10, 15, 20 AMPS : Car Electronics Amazon.com : FAST Shipping* ADD CIRCUIT BLADE STYLE ATM APS ATT LOW PROFILE MINI FUSE HOLDER FUSE TAP + FUSE SET 5, 7.5, 10, 15, 20 AMPS : Car Electronics

Is a direct tap onto that fuse, so you just connect the hot wire of your camera to the other end, and put the fuse into the slot.

Make sure to ground your camera to like a metal screw or something near the fuse. There are plenty of those.

So you have both your camera and your radar detector taped into your mirror?

the fuse box has a fuse remover tool that you can use to remove the fuse. Its in the box. Read the label to find the location of it.

Yeah. But the cam isn't on unless the car is on...besides the 400 hates the heat & south FL gets very hot so I take it off the window when I park.
I was considering upgrading it to the one you have, when/if the 400 dies.

^ Add-a-circuit is the way to go. Just pull the fuse from the fuse box and plug it into the first terminal of the add-a-circuit. Put the fuse for the new circuit in the second terminal. Then plug the add-a-circuit into the fuse box.

You can probably get away with just one add-a-circuit - just wire the hot side of both devices to the lead. The two dash cams in my G35 were hardwired this way.

+1 for the Add-a-circuit, these things are great. I ordered a 5 pack from Amazon to redo my dashcam wiring for a cleaner/safer install, and also needed a always-hot cigarette jack port for my solar battery maintainer.

For my dashcams I have 2 G1Ws, one facing front and one facing rear. I also highly recommend a power kit box, it allows you to keep your dashcams running even when you shut off the car, at the switch of a button. Great for when parking at the supermarket or in shady areas. It also has voltage cut-off settings so you don't drain your battery. Can't stress it enough how great this thing is, google "dashcam power kit" on Ebay that's how i found one.

I use an OBD power cable. It has an option to stay on or to power off 5 minutes after the car has been turned off.
