Help iPod Touch Gen 5 2010 G37 Connectivity
iPod Touch Gen 5 2010 G37 Connectivity
I have a 2010 Infinity G37. This year through current year uses the direct USB connection for iPod playback and charging.
I just bought a 5th generation iPod touch. Plugged it in and the car does not recognize it. I connected it through a cigarette lighter to USB connector and it will charge, but of course not play.
I understand there may be a software update that I need to get - I just bought the car 6 months ago, and am not sure if it ever got the "apple" update in 2010. I'm going to check on that at the dealership. Lots of research and browsing of these forums taught me that the new Apple lightening cable is all digital so it won't connect correctly and charge or allow playback.
Is there any kind of converter that I can buy that will allow me to connect the 5G iPod touch to the car and give me control of the music via the steering wheel controls?
I can connect it via bluetooth but the sound sucks, it disconnects frequently, and doesn't display the right song info.
Sorry if this has been asked before, I did search, but no clear answer for my year G37. Thanks.

Can you try with a known lightning cable - say what worked for you connecting the iPod to a PC? I have 2011 model and it works fine with older model iPods and with new iOS devices - iPod Touch and iPhone.
I am bumping this thread up because I am also having the same problem. When I had my ipod classic and was connected with the ipod cable it would recognized the ipod immediately and would be able to play music. I recently bought a Ipod Touch 5th Gen because the classic was stolen and I am having trouble because it wont recognized the ipod (it wont connect). I bought the lightning cable adapter of course and nothing. I also bought an AV cable to see if that would work and nothing. I HAVE A 2008 G37.
Mine works. Just got my 5th gen in August, I plugged it in and it works fine. I use the usb apple provided and thats it. I also have a 2010 so I really have no idea why its not working for you guys. Keep us posted cuz I am curious as well
