No rear speaker sound 2010 G37s coupe

hey guys, quick question on the rear speakers in a 2010 G37s: are they supposed to make sound?

The stereo sounds great as is, but I noticed a while back that when I put the fader to the rear, all I can hear is a little bass (and I mean a little bass.. Just enough to be noticeable..)

turning the driver optimized sound (or whatever its called) on or off makes no difference.

Since its still under warranty, I took it to the dealer where they replaced the back speakers. When that didn't change anything, they said 'Oh, it must be your amp.' So they ordered one and last week they put it in, and again, nothing.

NOW they're saying 'we think it might be the head unit, but we'll have to call Infinity support and get back to you'

Everything in my head unit works fine (Nav, phone, you name it..), so I kinda doubt that is going to fix it.

My car is completely stock, and I am the second owner.

Does anyone else with a 2010 G37s coupe have sound coming out of their back speakers? Or is this how its supposed to sound? (Like I said, the stereo sounds great.. Its just something that's annoying me..)

Thanks in advance guys.

Hello?

Really?? There's no one on this forum with a 2010 G37s with a stock stereo that can tell me what happens when they put the fader all the way to the rear?

I've lost confidence in the dealer since they just seem to be replacing parts without knowing what is actually wrong.

If its the same as my '07 sedan, the backs are more of a "filler". The sub in the rear deck has bass but not like the ones in the front. the rear doors barely have any. The fronts is where 90% of the bass is coming from.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

When I was at the dealer we tried out the stereos in about 5 different types of G cars (although they didn't have a G37s coupe to try).. Each one sounded different when the fader went to the rear, but each one was still significantly louder than mine.

It was frustrating asking them "how is it supposed to sound?" only to have them say "we don't know"

But considering how many speakers are back there, they must be intended to make some type of sound..

I have about 10k miles left on my warranty and want to make sure everything is working correctly before it runs out. So whenever I decide to sell it some guy isn't like "hey, the back speakers don't work! I'm not paying what you're asking!" (which I can totally see happening since it's something I would do haha!)

I noticed when I was installing my sound processor that the rears had very little to no output.

This is with the standard set up no bose

I tried tapping into the rears to make it easier on the install. The processor barley picked up any signal from the rears. I had to turn the volume all the way up or the processor gain all the way up...still little sound.

Once I tapped into the fronts it was a MAJOR change. Way more output

Might be a G37 audio issue but im not 100% sure on that.
My rears are disconnected. I only run front stage.

Blazeplacid & evil-G-nius, thanks!

Evil-G-nius, I should have specified that I have the bose system (my G37s has every available option for model year 2010 that I'm aware of..)

I don't know if this makes a difference or not though. I look forward to see what you find out in your car.

Thanks again.

(PS.. I registered here just to ask this question, and I'm impressed how many responses I've received so far. Not a bad forum!! )

The rear package tray speakers on a coupe with Bose are filler speakers, nothing wrong.

It's by design. When you go to a concert does the sound come from behind you. No. Good sound systems try to reproduce real life audio and not being loud just for the sake of being loud.
