Couldn't connect IPAD Mini to non-nav 2011

Had a short trip so mounted on an IPAD Mini tonight but couldnt figure out how to play it through Bose audio. I had only the premium non nav version,

i wasn't so sure because my 2010 IPOD can be played without any problem, even the apps.

so how can I playback IPAD Mini via Bose? i had the lighting pin connector ..

many thanks Folks

I have a USB port in my center console armrest box and I just plug a lightning cable into that. I can play from my 5S or my iPad with lightning connector.

I take it the non-nav Bose system doesn't come with Bluetooth audio?

I can connect iPods, 5S and iPad mini using the USB port as connoisseur said - but I do have Navi. They all have Bluetooth (Navi and non-Navi), but I thought the fidelity was poor on Bluetooth so I've never tried it.
