My Nav Swap

My car is a 2009 G37X With Bose
Navigation head unit from a 2009 g37x With Bose
GPS Antenna from kenwood (Amazon $24.99)
2008 G35 Nav Harness for Pigtails.

Well this is the first ting i have done to my car. it took around 9 hours today to do started at 11 am making the harness and at 7 the car was 100% functioning.
i made harness so i did not have to splice all the wires. in the end i only think around 4 where spliced (BT Mic Ground etc.)
here is a little video (it kinda sucks the video) . will make a diy when i have time

nice, I went the wire splicing route but this works just the same, less time with your car ripped apart. Since I spliced the connectors directly my car was in pieces for about 3 days. Did you have any issues fitting all the wiring behind the stereo, mine was pretty tight but your setup looks to be a little worse

So, to do this what parts do you need? I assume the following:

- Nav head unit
- Nav faceplate
- Nav control panel
- Nav screen (since the non-Nav isn't a touchscreen, right?)
- Nav wiring harness

That about right?

on the left side of the dash there is an gap with space. i just shoved everything in there. it was a little tight but fit with no issue.

you'll also need GPS antenna for Nav to work

Since you were going to do all that. Why not opt for the better 2010+ nav setup?

i was unable to find a 2010 unit.

i also think that the dealer would not notice a 2009 nav in a 2009 g37

If you have a 2009 w/bose no nav and want to do the swap could you use the pigtails from a 2008 nav g37?

I have all the pieces from a 2012 navigation g37 except the dash wiring harness. I'm assuming you need a 2010+ wiring harness as its a new digital screen etc etc..

Good to know the kenwood gps antenna works the same as the $180 infiniti one

Yes you can use the pigtails from a 2008 if you want to put a 2009 Nav in.

If you want to install the 2012 nav screen your correct you will need the new harness that includes the new display connector.

Does your mic work for touchfree? From what I have seem you need to route wires from the TEL unit to the new AV unit since the NAV AV unit has TEL controller built in and none nav does not.
