Remote Starters for New Infinitis ??

Does anyone have experience with any recent vintage Infiniti with Push Button start with Remote starters? I decided to buy it in my new M37X lease. I am curious with the experiences and if it affects other electronics in the car? The Service Manager had a better description than did the Sales Manager. I was told that the existing Key Fobs are used - not separate ones. And like others I have seen, after you enter the remote started car, you need to turn it off and then restart....And they told me something odd: when the car is shutdown, the parking brake must be engaged or it won't remote start.

It is not an Infiniti (they don't make or provide any), it is provided from outside auto electronics company, yet it warranted under the new car warranty.

The wife just got a 2013 Altima 2.5 SV sedan last week that has factory remote start.
The smart key fob has 5 buttons as compared to the 09 Fob that had four.

Pressing and holding the button on the Fob starts the vehicle and starts a ten minute timer. The vehicle will shut down after 10 minutes. When you enter the vehicle after remote starting you must put your foot on the brake pedal and push the start button. The engine continues to run and does not shut down.
Pushing the start button cancels the 10 minute timer and the dashboard then lights up. There are no lights on the instrument panel during remote start until you enter the vehicle and press the start button with your foot on the brake pedal.

I tried it twice and the wife doesn't use it.

I don't know if new Infiniti's have this feature. Perhaps the Q50 might.

Is there any chance that you could post or link to a photo of the remote that controls the remote start? Do you know if it is offered on MT equipped modems?

telcoman, I never had a car with remote start. After your description (which will be similar to your wife's Nissan except the Key Fob will be the same with 4 buttons, I'm told), I think I will proceed to get it. Probably will be used more in winter to heat the car after it's sitting at the Suburban Office Building exterior parking lot...

I know of no Manual Transmission vehicles that have this feature nor would I personally ever want it.

Hi, I have a 2010 G37s Anniversary Edition Sedan with push button start and I had my Infiniti dealer install the remote starter in my car and all i do is press the sequence of the lock button, unlock button, and lock button for 5 seconds and the car starts. When i approach the car I simply hit the door button on the car door, get in and drive off. I don't have to shutoff or do anything, just put the car in drive and take off. The car also does not have to have the parking brake on either, because i honestly never use the parking brake unless i parked on an incline or sloped hill or something. I didn't have to get another keyfob, just use the infiniti keyfob that came with the car. It stays on for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, it will automatically shutoff if i don't get in the car and take off. Overall, it works just fine. Every blue moon, i may get in the car to drive off and the car cuts off before I take off, but that happens very rarely, and to be honest the few times it has happened to me, it probably was because I took about 10 minutes getting in the car, etc before taking off, so serves me right. LOL!

I personally do not favor remote starts unless it comes installed on the car from the factory like the ford explorer, or like the altima being talked about earlier. Reason for this is because i had one installed on my non-g(05 mustang) and it has completely skrewed up the electronics on the car. It goes into a valet type mode and just starts constantly honking at me sometimes. So my experience with remote start isnt very good, then again the shop that installed it could have done a bad job.

boomboom: thanks for the reply. Well, mine was installed through the Dealer (an outside company does it). My 2 Fobs were used, the Parking Brake DOES need to be engaged, it starts the car with 3 sequential pushes of the Lock Button and runs for 10 minutes before it shuts off. Upon entering the car, just touch the brake pedal and it shuts off. You do need to restart. Notwithstanding your occasional shut downs on Blue Moons, I wish I had seen this before I proceeded. I too also the 2013 Altima information with a Factory Remote Start. All of the electronics work fine: I can hold the Unlock Button down which rolls down all of the windows (you do need to be closer to the car), then hit the Remote Start button (Lock Button 3 X). I think the function will be more valuable in the colder months than summer. The Parking brake engagement is a PIA to remember - I too don't use that too much.

Get a Compustar remote starter, you need a ADS blade-al bypass module. You can have it so it just works off your factory keyfob (press lock 3 times in a row) or for extended range by a RF Kit (remotes and antenna) or for even further range, buy a drone add on, and its smartphone app. Start from anywhere you have cell phone range and ur vehicle has cell phone range. I've started my car from the other side of the world (and gps tracked)

Integration works seemlessly with the combo above. Integrates to factory security, parking brake is not required unless you are manual transmission. And you can do takeover from remote start so you don't have to shut down and restart vehicle.

i just traded my 2007 silverado ltz for my 2013 G37S and one thing i miss is the remote start in the summer. with my silverado when i used the remote start either the heater (and heated seats) or a/c would come on as well. if i get the factory installed infiniti remote start does it also engage the a/c in the summer? that is the main reason for wanting remote start (at least in N Texas).

I have the Viper 5904 Remote Start/alarm installed on my 6mt. Works pretty well in my opinion. The downside is that the I can't activate Remote starter mode using the factory remote. But the Ciper remote is a 2 way and it shows me the status of my car, engine on, alarm armed..etc.

I had a Viper alarm with remote starter on my Monte Carlo and TrailBlazer and loved it. In Pittsburgh it was a must but not so much here in the mid south. I used the Viper fobs instead of the OEM but neither of those wee an intellikey. I thought about installed one on the G but other mods came first and I'm a little reluctant as I don't know of a good shop here in TN.

Mike - If you decide you want a viper or remote starter let me know and I'll hook you up with a buddy of mine in NJ. If you go you have to check out the Greenwood Corvette his partner built, it's a 9 second street car ready for a cannonball run.
