"ipod not connected" message after car sits overnight
Hello,
I have an older ipod connected via the special cable, it works great when it works.
I go to the office for a few hours, it works when I come out. But if i leave it connected over night it doesn't want to work. I initially thought the battery drained overnight, but on investigation it had 75% battery left.
Any trick to this?

I get the same thing, but, only if I turn the car off with the ipod playing, and restart within about 3-4 minutes. I hold down the off section of the ipod wheel when car is not running and it works next time. Also 2009 with "classic" ipod. Only happens once in awhile.

my understanding is due to the lack of power going to the iPod. since the cord does NOT charge the iPod, the iPod goes into sleep mode after awhile.
I have tried different cords and adapters, and although those other cords/adapters keep the iPod on when the car first starts up, the iPod's battery also drains faster as it still fails to charge.
still searching for a cord/adapter combination that can charge the iPod.
my guess as to why that feature was omitted was b/c leaving an ipod on could drain the car's battery. however, I have read from others' posts that some have seen whereby the iPod only charges when the car is on/in motion.
