Lurking the forum for the past few weeks,great site. I recently purchased a 09 G37 automatic sedan. great car, surprised the wife. Had the dealer install a DEI remote start integrated into the key. Has anyone else had this done,I find the remote starter very cumbersome to say the least. Have had many remote starters but first with a push button ignition.

Issues I`m having

1. The ebrake needs to be engaged,in order for the remote start to start the vehicle,its not a manual shift so I don't understand the reason there. If my wife or I forget to set it the night before,no remote star in the morning

2. Once the car starts, I have two options when I get into the car,first I can stick my key into the dash so it senses my key, press the brake, release the ebrake, and then drive off, removing my key from the dash port.This in itself defeats the entire purpose of keyless entry and is just inconvenient. Or I can press the brake,which shuts the car off then restarts the car,which is just silly.

3. I also noticed if I have my headlights on auto,and I decide to cancel the remote start or the remote start times out and shuts the G off the headlights stay on,this is a problem as well. As well as the doors unlocking. The starter goes into ON mode instead of ACC like starters I have had in the past.

I can bypass the ebrake issue ( I think), but I dont see a work around having to stick the key into the port or starting the car twice. The dealer has been very accommodating and is looking into my options but was just wondering if anyone is experiencing the same issues. thanks
