Hi Guys,
I recently tried watching a video in my car off of the nav with the iphone5 connected through the rca to 30pin adapter from apple with the lightning adapter piggybacked to that and I only get sound but no video in P with the e brake engaged. Any ideas? Thanks

 

Also I tried my gf's iphone4 and that had the same issue. I don't use this feature often so I can't say when it stopped working but it def worked when I first got it. This leads me to believe it is a software update causing the issue but I defer to those with more expertise.

 

Hi - since I didn't get any replies in my last thread I thought I would try again. Does anyone with an iphone 5 watch video on their nav unit? If not doesn't anyone know if this is possible? Thanks

 

Maybe nobody answered because they haven't tried it and don't know. Or possibly because it's only been 2 days since you first posted it. There's absolutely no reason to start a second thread just because nobody answered right away, I'm merging the two. If you want to be persistent, just bump this one, don't start another.

I haven't tried it with mine. I would think that using an RCA cable (in my 08 at least) it would be possible but I'll never know for sure because I have on desire to try it. But good luck to you.

 

Sorry for jumping the gun but after over a 100 views I thought someone could at least comment and give their 2 cents to get a consensus started. I find it hard to believe that I am one of the only members trying to get an answer to this as I would bet at least a quarter use the iphone 5. Regardless any help is appreciated.

 

Hey, So I was planning on doing the same thing with my 09 G. I did research and everyone on myg37 is saying that they are only getting audio. I have found this thread on Macfourms that may be helpful and I was wondering if any of you guys have tried this yet.
It says Lighting to vga to rca wont support video output from the Iphone.. something about rca is analog and Iphone is digital... but this guy used a converter that you can buy off of amazon and he successfully hooked up his iphone video to his rca inputs.

the only way i know of that you can get the video to come out of the iphone is to have it jailbroken and have an tweek in cydia known as "video out".

this will pump the video out to the 30 pin (or 8 now if the 8 even works that way).

 

i got same problem too but i dont have even sound . nothing at all .
