Head Up Display

I saw this device on Ebay and would like to know can it work on a 2010 Infiniti G37X? There's other devices that use the OBD Connector but cannot work with the G37.

HUD-Head up display-Km&Mile Switch/Speed setting learning/Over speeding warning | eBay

This device uses 3 connections: speed/acc, ing and power/ground. Are these connections available?

If you have an Android phone, download the Torque app. Set the app to HUD mode and throw your phone on the dash. It'll do the same thing plus more. It really only works at night since it depends on the reflection of the display off the windshield. The same concept applies to the item you listed.

Thanks I do have an Android phone. I'm going to try it and see how it works. It uses the GPS Data from the phone network. How accurate is it? I think using the signal from the car is more accurate.

I tried it and the app does work. However, the font is a bit too small and the screen needs to be brighter. I'll look for another app to see if they're something better.

You can put a small strip of dark tint where the screen reflects, it'll work during the day. Did that for a while.

Most phones these days use the phone network and GPS data to locate your phone, it's almost as acurate as a handheld GPS unit.

the torque app works with an bluetooth enabled OBDII dongle.

torque gathers your fuel level, speed, etc from the diagnostics port then displays the info on your phones screen.

plug the OBDII into the diagnostic port.
download torque
connect phone/dongle
enjoy

This is really interesting. I ordered the OBDII from Amazon and will get the app tomorrow when it arrives. I have a dash mount for my phone to keep track of all activities happening without being interrupted, so this will great.

Here's my review of Torque and the Kiwi connector --- that was the only thing that worked for me on the G. The prior ELM modules i got didn't work.

This is a awesome mod, I want to find a way to truly hook up a useless Android phone and turn into a HUD, or find a good hardwire location for it.

Also for iPhones, Dynolicious works I heard? Any Experience?

Finally got mine last week, and its pretty sweet. Feel like I get to know my car's performance even more. Still havent tweaked with it but will in due time. I tried the HUD but I feel its weak. Maybe I need to make it max brightness or something.

How has someone placed it on the dash? Velcro tape?

I use it on longer trips to monitor MPG. The AFR, HP and Torque readings are also cool along with the myriad of other readings you can get from it. After a while though the novelty wears off. The one thing that it has that is useful is that it can pull codes if you have a CEL. Pretty sweet app overall and at the cost of $6 bux, it's definitely worth it.

In order to have an effective HUD, you need to have your phone on max brightness. The dark tint idea for daytime use is a good idea too. Even though I don't know if I'd get it done just for this. I'm sure one of this anti-slip mats would work for on your dash.

A generic OBDII bluetooth dongle I got off of Amazon works for me.
