Nav Screen goes blank

Occassionally (not very often), my nav screen goes blank, mostly happens when shifting to reverse. I have an '11 Sport 6MT. I searched for the TSB here and didn't get anything. I did a google search and I believe it's ITB12-012. Anyone else get this problem?

There is a TSB for this problem. TSB basically says to replace the screen.

Maybe this thread has some useful info regarding your issue...it sounds similar to your problem.

I've seen a few new QX56s come in with that issue, and one JX but no Gs. The nav unit has to be replaced. Everything works fine until you shift into reverse and it goes blank and wot come back on shifting it back into neutral or drive. You have to turn off the vehicle and restart it to get the screen to come up again.

TwoThree,

That's exactly what happens. Sucks that the unit needs to be replaced. I read the TSB and my car falls within the vin range. Strange how no other G has complained about that.

Thanks for the help.

No problem man, just get your dealer to order that ASAP. That would really **** me off if my vehicle did that. Luckily you're under warranty or it would be pretty expensive. Once it's ordered it should only take 3 days for them to have it and a day for them to install. Make sure you request a loaner.

Unhappy

This happened for the first time couple days ago on my new '12 g37. The screen went black when I put car in reverse, I had to restart. This sucks. Do I have to replicate the issue for dealer to fix the problem?

I had the screen go blank a few times. Each time the dealer could not replicate the problem or find a problem, so nothing was done.

As the service bulletin stated, the radio and HVAC functions still worked.<O</O

If I turned off the car and restarted it, the screen was OK.<O</O

Yesterday, it went blank again. I was close to the dealer, drove over and showed them.<O</O

A new nav screen is now on order for me.<O</O

This has happened a couple of times on my EX35 and once on my G37. It only seems to be a problem when it is really hot outside and the car has been sitting in the sun. It has come back on each time when the car is restarted, so I haven't worried about it too much. At the end of the lease I may request the new screen if this keeps happening and I choose to purchase. Fortunately when it happened in my G I was on the way to the dealership anyway and was able to show them, the tech was not able to make it come on again until the car was restarted.
