So now that some have had the update for about 6 weeks, what do you guys think. Was it worth it? Would you highly recommend it?

- Are there enough new or updated POI's in the Dbase?
- Did the UI change at all? ie Any new commands (voice or on screen)
- Is the Bluetooth better, worse, same?
- Other

Thanks

Let's just say that last summer, trying to find a Chase ATM when in Phoenix was a test of my patience prior to this. Because the old NAV had no Chase, just Washington Mutual (Chase took over WM), and they were all shut down.

I think it was worth the $199.00 and 90 minutes of my time!!

So, 5 DVDs. 5x4.7GB=23GB. How large is the physical hard drive itself? Just curious. What is it, 8GB available for Music Box? So, I'm guessing a 40GB industrial grade drive in there. Has anyone had any failures yet from the drives?

The disks may not have 4.7GB of data on them.
Back in 07, when the second gen sedan came out, the HD was believed to be a 30GB Seagate with QNX OS.
It's believed that the 9.3GB music box can borrow/share memory from the allocated Nav memory.
Anybody taken harddrive out yet? - G35Driver

I just bought a 2012 G37. How do I know if my data is the current version? Is there a web page to order updates & check versions?
I know this is an easy repetitive question but I'm new here

EDIT: Sorry guys, I didn't realize there was a page one with a link.
FYI 2012 is up to date.

So it just the maps that are $200, and the firmware upgrade is free? Is it just me or do others think that the $2000 they dropped on the nav should just include upgrades?

What made you think the firmware is free? Firmware is one of the DVD that comes in the package. You get the firmware when you buy the maps. So technically, it is part of the $200.

I was just at the dealership yesterday and they said there was a software update for my car. I asked them if it was a firmware update since I ordered the new nav DVD's and the firmware is on there.

They said it was different so they did they update. I now have some more options throughout my whole console and some voice commands have changed. For instance, my voice commands used to be, 'navigation' then 'home' to route to my house. It's now 'navigation', and 'destination home'. There are a bunch of minor changes for me...

So I guess what I'm getting at, was this a "software" update or was it just a firmware update and they didnt know what they were talking about?

I have a 2010 G37X nav btw

Not sure what they updated for you. I would always ask them for a version number.

Btw, try just saying 'destination home' without say navigation first.
Mine has always worked this way.

Perhaps you did not you previously have 'Alternate Command Mode' enabled.
"When Alternate Command Mode is activated, an expanded list of commands can be used after pressing the TALK switch. In this mode, available commands are not fully shown on the display or prompted."

Great call, I've ordered the code. Now i have to have it installed, the nearest Infinit dealer is about 47miles away can a Nissan dealer install it? They are only 4 miles away.

Right but us 08ers don't have much of a choice...my dealership is quoting me $120 + tax.

I was able to get a price match from my local dealer to $89.99 + tax. So it seems like my update is a little cheaper than the 10+ update
