Any success adding an additional sub to the stock bose system?

I've got an 09 G Sedan w/bose, soon to have a 12 Sedan w/bose.

The system is fine..but seems to lack some base/punch from the rear. In fact, if you turn radio to fade 100% to the rear it's pretty darn quiet back there.

Any advice? Do I need an amp or can I tie into the existing amp that must be somewhere back on the shelf?

I think you can add the subs, but you will need an amp to power it up. how many subs are you adding? 10" or 12"? I've got 2 10" and its way too much for a coupe i think haha.. and i like bass too. And if you do install try to get what everyone did, an additional switch for you to be able to control the bass. Good luck.

I also have 2x 10" in my coupe and it gives it a decent punch. Nothing crazy. Your gonna have to get a separate amplifier though.

Sorry for bumping back an old thread. So if I want to get more bass, the solution for it is to get two 10 inch subs with amp? What kind of sub and amp did you guys get? I'm planning to get one soon. But I'm not sure which one to get. Kinda noob at subs and amps. Any advice would help. Thanks yall

Some one over the weekend posted a thread with his new Sub woofer upgrade. It looked clean and it mounted on the side, in the trunk. Let me see if I can find the thread. I might do the exact same thing so I don't lose trunk space.

I just put one in my trunk. An 8" Self powered tube.

Easy as pie to install. Ran 8g fused power wire from the battery. Ground was fastened to the rear seat belt bolt under the seat. I ran the remote turn on lead from a the cigar/cigarette lighter fuse, across under the dash, and along with the power wire through the door sills.

Removed the stock 6X9 Bose subwoofers (yes these are subwoofers, and they are crossed over to only let frequencies below 150HZ through them).

Soldered speaker level inputs to the existing wires that originally went to the left and right channel 6X9 subwoofers.

The tube adds a nice bump in low end, but not quite enough for my liking.

Next week I am installing an Infinity Kappa 10" sub, mounted into a 1.0 cu/ft sealed enclosure powered by a 1000W Alpine MRX-M100 amplifier. I will also be swapping out the 8g power/ground for 4g wiring.

Hope this helps. If you have any previous audio experience, and know how to run wires through interiors and solder, then you won't have any trouble at all.

I added my MTX 1501D amp and MTX 9500 12 sub with a LC2i Digital Hi/Lo Converter from ARC. Sounds perfect, no distortion or power loss with level gain. Check my thread here: https://www.myg37.com/forums/audio-v...installed.html

Does anyone know what the specs on the stock 6x9's might be? I have a pair of aftermarket high efficiency carbon fiber 6x9 subwoofers but unsure if the effort is worth my time. I hear VERY little coming from the rear deck of my coupe.

I've read that all the drivers in the Bose system are 2 ohm impedance.

The 6 x 9's are supposedly subwoofers back there; so, no midrange / treble coming from them.
