I like the Bose system, but my expectations are in the right place. The Bose is better than some of the 'higher' end systems I've heard on more expensive cars.

I find it interesting enough to note how much different, different media sources sound as well.
iPod (bitrate obviously has a big effect), CD's, DVD movies and the Radio (XM) all have extremely different sound quality on this system and there is not enough adjustment to compensate.

Has anyone else ever put in an industry/original DVD movie with Dolby/THX/etc and listened to how good it sounds. If the music media options sounded as good as a DVD movie I would be very pleased.

This is noticeable on my aftermarket Clarion and Panasonic stereos in my other vehicles too...the media itself plays a huge role.

i dont know what the bitrate on XM is..but its never going to be CD or iPod quality..192 kbps or higher...i think XM is either 128 or 96.

ive noticed the same though...CD or iPod with uncompressed audio is the way to go!

Hi all,

I am a new '11 G37xS sedan owner myself and also noticed the stock Bose sub in the rear deck could use some improvement, but coming from a previous Bose car with a very similar setup ('07 Mazdaspeed 6) I wasn't surprised.

Does anyone know if someone has run into issues replacing the stock Bose sub with a good aftermarket IB one? It was done fairly easily on the Mazdaspeed's with great success. The mazdaspeed was an odd-size (about 9") but was able to be replaced with some aftermarket 8" and hooked up to a new amp using the existing Bose wires for remote turn on and the signals to the sub.

I've read the sub in the G37x is a bit bigger (something like 11", but most 10" aftermarket could fit in the cutout) so I'm looking into trying one of these, from elemental audio: Elemental Designs: Car Stereo, Home Speakers, Electronics I am the same boat not looking to have a box or other enclosure in the trunk so I'm trying to stay with a IB sub in the stock location.
