So lately whenever my music is up more than half way, my odometer lights would start to flicker and the whole cd player/nav would like restart....this have never happen before until like 2 weeks ago, and it would only occur if I have the music louder than half way up. I'm thinking time to replace the battery since it sounds like the battery is going bad, anyone had similar problem?

Yes sir I do, Boston acoustic g310 and a jl 500/1 amp, but it never had this problem before. I think these recent thunder storm might have something to do w my battery lol. But I want to know for sure if replacing the battery will fix it.

That doesn't sound like it's got anything at all to do with your battery to me. I could be wrong though.

Im a certified MECP installer and ran one of the busiest Best Buy install bays in the nation. . . Sounds like your alternator is going bad. . . Once your car is running your battery is no longer being used you can start your car, take your battery out put it on the side walk and drive until you run out of gas or need to turn the car off, battery is only used to run electronics while in on/acc position and to start the car! The other large gauge (thick) cable on your battery positive side is going to your starter and another to your alternator so once car is running your alternator can re charge your battery. Since you are using a JL 500.1 which is a pretty good amp it runs at almost whats called "true power" which pulls a good amount of amperage i.e. AMP the installer should have recommended a capacitor or a CAP to save the alternator novices think its to save battery but its to save alternator. . .

Was about to say that his alternator is about to go out. OP. You can use a voltage meter to check what is your voltage at while the car is running. It should be at least 13.2v while the car is running. Sounds to me our alternator just doesn't have enough juice to power your beat and whenever you turn it up the power get's drawn too low where your system resets. It's a possibility.

Get a capacitor like ^ said. That'll help out a whole bunch

Alternator? Hmm I never thought of that...I figure if the alternator is bad my car would probably die while I'm driving already, if it's not charging the battery correctly, I wouldn't be able to drive the car for long. Also I don't have any problem starting the car and again the problem doesn't occur if my radio is playing at a certain level, only when I turn it up to about 3/4 of the volume. I'm thinking I'm replacing the stock battery with kenetik audio battery.

Btw when the car is running I checked the voltage it, 14.2 is what it reads

14.2 is healthy.

It can be a start of a failing alternator or just purely not enough juice to power your equipment. Try turning down your bass and crank it up to see if it Still does it

So if the bass is off and music up and the problem is solve that means I should get a cap? What if I just change the battery? Something like this one Kinetik High Current Power Cells

I would be upgrading my battery and emliminating the hassle of getting a cap.

Are your battery cable connections tight and corrosion free? I once had a similar symptom on my Accord, although it was high RPM acceleration causing warning lights to come on.

Bought a new battery, went to install it and the positive cable came right off without having to loosen the clamp.

No, it's not solved. THAt just proves it is a power issue. Upgrading a battery is A temporary fix. The problem will come back

I'd suggest testing your alternator. If it is failing consider having it rebuilt and upgraded rather than simply replacing it with a new one. That is a far better more permanent solution than throwing a capacitor into your system.

Ok I'll test the alternator out and see if it's going bad, also if the car is stillmunder warranty, would the dealer cover the replacement of it if it is bad?
