9500ix diy stealthcord

Anybody get a home made stealth cord to work with a newer escort 9500ix? I tried using a 2 pin telephone cord and when that didn't work I tried a 4 pin telephone cord. Per the diy instructions I plugged the red wire into pin 8 (ground) and the green wire into pin 6 (switched 12v). Escort would not power up with either cord. I tested the pins I plugged into the mirror and have power there. I'm just wondering if a standard telephone cord works, or maybe newer escorts use different pins to power up?

I brought cord into the house and hooked it up to a power supply. Escort still would not power up till I reversed the wiring. So I'm sure it will work if I hook it up reversed to the car mirror. i.e. red telephone wire to switched power and green telephone to to ground.

You are right, but only 1/2 the time. If you use a telephone cord with a connector at both ends, the wiring reverses. Just my luck I used the wrong end from both the 2 wire and the 4 wire cord. If you hold the cord so that the connector pins are on top, you can see the green and red wires going into the pins. If the red is on the right side, then red is power and green is ground, just like you said. However, if red is on the left side, then green is power and red is ground. Anyway, I hope this post will save somebody some time if they are making their own stealth cord, which is really easy to do once you have the power and ground figured out.
