"Check Connected Device" Error with iPhone 4
"Check Connected Device" Error with iPhone 4
I've got a 2011 G37x with Premium Package only along with an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.2.1 connected via USB. I noticed that when I get a text message or even sometimes randomly, the iPhone stops playing music through the iPod interface, I hear a few beeps, then the car's display reads "Check Connected Device." Cycling through the AUX devices on the console doesn't reset the error. The only fix I've found is shutting the car completely off, then back on (which is not the best while at an intersection). I also get the error if I start the car and the iPhone isn't already plugged in...
Any ideas? I just got over the issue with the music skipping after updating to 4.2.1, now this....
Thanks in Advance.

That's normal and happens to all of us. On my '08 I just tap on the message and it usually goes away and plays normally. Sometimes I have to put the phone to sleep and wake it up or close the app (Pandora) completely and open it up again and all is well. I don't have to shut off the car.
Welcome to the forum BTW.

Thanks for the welcome Black Betty...
Unfortunately, I can't tap my G37's screen to remove the "Check connected..." message. I've tried closing the iPod app on the phone and opening it again. But, when I hit play, the audio goes through the iPhone's speakers....
But, I'll try the sleep/wake trick...
Thanks again for the prompt reply.

I meant tap the phone screen. If the audio begins to play through the phones speakers I usually disconnect/reconnect it and it plays through the car's speakers like it should. If the message pops up I tap "OK" and all is well. I get this sporadically. I'll have to see if I'm getting the exact same message, I have an 08 and we use a different cable. I don't know if that makes a difference.
Apple changed it's Bluetooth spec with 4.2 and many makes/models are having issues. Chrysler had to make software CDs to update firmware for all of their vehicles and that includes jeep and dodge. I wonder if this issue is also caused by apples new code.
