Ability to stream on non-navi '11 models?

Lately I have been contemplating buying the IPhone for when it comes out for verizon. Right now with my Droid, I cant stream any of the radio programs on it. If I were to get the new IPhone, would you be able to run these apps when connected to the USB port?

I believe you need to connect via bluetooth to stream anything but your ipod...and then it doesn't matter what kind of phone you have. But I think that option only comes with Navi? On my '10 I can stream my gf's Droid in my car via bluetooth.

If you can't do it with your droid, I doubt you could do it with an iPhone.

You need a2dp or avrc support on both the phone and the car. I'm pretty sure the Droid has support for both bluetooth profiles. I'm surprised the non-nav car wouldn't have that, though. Do you not have the menu option to connect bluetooth devices as audio devices on your car?

I have a 2011 G37X without Nav. I was able to stream Pandora through the USB port using an Ipod Touch with built in Wi-Fi. If your Droid is rooted, you can get a Wi-Fi tether program and make the Droid a hot spot for Wi-Fi and use the Ipod Touch to stream Pandora or other live audio through the USB port. I am in the process of getting a 3.5mm to USB adapter that I am going to try with my Droid X to see if I can stream directly without the Ipod Touch interface.

The 3.5mm to USB adapter did not work. The radio apparently needs a digital input directly from an I-phone or IPOD.

on my 2010 non-nav G37 the stereo will play almost any audio from the iPhone. Basically I start playing any song using the iPod function, then open a radio or other audio application on the phone, and the head unit thinks the song is paused, but plays the audio from the new application. Same goes for navigation audio from various turn-by-turn applications on the iphone playing over any audio source. The only major non-functioning application I've encountered has been trapster.

Interesting device, but according to the manual, once you plug it into the USB port, the device will install as a “USB composite device” (HID and Audio) which means this will not work for our cars.

simplest answer in the world: NO

no navi, no A2DP support, no bluetooth music.

playing through USB cable is a different story

Yeah you can do it with non-nav. There's another thread about how to tap into the XM module in the trunk. Basically you run RCA cables from the XM module to a device that has stereo mini jack output and streaming bluetooth input. If you do it yourself you could get it done for $60. I'm doing it this weekend.
