what model iPod do you have? what model car?

the 2010 models are having issues reading iPhones and iPod touches. theres a TSB for it.

if your car is older than 2010, I dont know what the issue is. probably an issue with the wire.

Battery was probably dead. Did it connect shortly after you started the car?

this happens to me all the time. I have an 09 coupe with nav. I just keep plugging it in and out until it does find that it's connected. Usually have to do it twice.

I don't remember what button I push on the console but it is the bottom left side of the panel with the 6 buttons and select toggle button. I think it is MISC. Anyways, I push that a couple of times and ipod function returns to normal mode.

I have an '09 G37x Coupe and the same thing happens with my iPod. I have a Third Generation Touch and the car's iPod cable is not "compatible" with this iPod so there is an error message that appears on the iPod saying that there is an accessory connected to it but it will not charge the iPod. I slide my finger over to get rid of the message and then push the aux button and it seems to recognize the iPod is there after that.
