XM Tuner to Sirius Removal Question
XM Tuner to Sirius Removal Question
Hi, I am new to the G Community. Seems like a great place! Had a question for everyone. I have a 09 Sedan with Bose and No Nav, and was wondering if there is any easier way to remove the tuner under the parcel shelf without having to remove the whole back seat. I have a Sirius tuner that I want to swap in (I have sirius in other cars so it would be a pain to stick with XM). Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
I am looking to do the same thing with my 2010 Sedan no nav. I have had Sirius for 5 years and am really not liking the change to XM. Plus, I hate the 16 character limit on the display. Was looking to swap out the XM tuner with the Sirius Connect (SCC1) tuner. Anyone have any luck doing this?
Well, in my coupe, when I plugged in the Sirius module, it over rode the factory xm without having to do anything. However, I have the nav package, and I believe the xm module is located in the head unit.
Edit: there's a thread from three years back or so in the audio section that shows you how to access the plug going through the trunk. I don't know if 2010 models are wired the same place.

I could understand doing this if you have a lifetime sub on one of your tuners, but if you don't why would you do this? Since the merger all of Sirius/XM Music channels are now the same and as far as STERN he can be listened to on XM via the best of Sirius package which includes stern, nascar, nfl, Martha Stewart, college sports, and playboy radio!
Because I absolutely hate the XM integration in the Infiniti. I just got an Edge for my wife and it has the Myford touch. It is 10000% better than my 2010 G37's sat. integration. I mean it isn't even close. I can do everything in her Ford with Sirius that I could do my with Sportster radios (alert, pause/record, scroll the text, rich/deep color, etc). With Xm integrated into the Infiniti I get cut off text, constant LOADING whenever I change channels, no recording and ver bland display. I was hoping I could find an alternative as I can't even put my Sportster back in the car because they took away the RCA connections into the head unit but they were nice enough to leave me the 3 plugged up wholes. Sorry for the rant, just really annoying when my wife's $32000 crossover Ford kicks my $40,000 Infiniti's butt when it comes to technology.

Hence why I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with switching the tuner and if you gain those features.

Wonder if this is possible in my 2011 G25? After 7 years of Sirius my ears cannot take the way that XM's audio compression is handled. I also have Sirius subs in the household aleady. The need to really integrate their computer systems.
Looked at the pics, this is in the trunk I am assuming? What part number did you use?
