is your iPod dying? sometimes when you leave the iPod in the car (when the G is off) and the iPod doesn't turn off it will kill the battery

you get that message while the iPod is powering on, then it will go away..etc. maybe that's the problem?

If that's not it then maybe the connection has something wrong (bent pin, etc)

yeah a lot of people complain about their iPod staying on even when they turn the car off and dying if they leave the car off for too long...that is probably the problem

This happened to me today - I've only owned my 2010 G37 convertible for a week, which is one week less than I've owned the iPod touch which isn't working.

Also, I see talk on here about people who got their car with a cable included - was that with the 2010? Mine has no cable, I was using the USB cable that came with the iPod to connect to the car.

The 2010 just has the usb port for you to use your own iPod cable. The '09 and '08 came with a proprietary cable that connected to your ipod.

Possibly it's shutting off, maybe when the battery runs out and takes a minute to start up and get connected. What happens if you just wait a minute without cycling through everything -- does it eventually get connected?

Also, which model & generation of ipod do you have?
