Infiniti Fixing Dead (Dying) Battery Big-Time
Got only the bigger Infiniti battery *700CCA) from the dealer this week, as they said the vent control valve was OK. Do not let them charge any 25% cost if you have had the car less than 24 months...see warranty book, page 20.
Hey guys- very late to this thread but thought I would post here instead of starting something new.
6 weeks ago I bought an '08 G37 coupe and everything has been fine (battery wise) until a few days ago.
My issue started with me loading some music onto the HD and moving the seats back and forth a couple of times to vacuum the mats. All of this was done without starting the car.
A little later that same day I moved the car out of the garage to wash it- and while it was parked I started loading some more music.
Then when I went to move the car to put some tire dressing on it would not start.
I checked the water level which was low so I topped that off and put my battery charger on it for several hours and then everything seemed fine.
According to my volt meter it was ~fully charged at 12.55 volts. However I am still sensing that all may not be well.
A few times lately I've noticed the starting seems a little different so I just put my volt meter on again and I'm in the 12.30 volt range. According to what I can find, this means I'm at around 60% charged.
I have not run anything without the engine running nor have done any kind of series of short runs (which I know do not provide enough time for charging).
I fully believe the battery is original and was just planning on replacing it but came across this thread so now I'm not sure replacing is the right thing to do.
Suggestions?
Thanks, Steve.

If you are still under warranty take it in to have the TSB performed for free. Actually, you should do the same thing even if you have to pay for it because putting in a new battery will not solve the problem is you have the vent valve issue, it'll only treat the symptom. I had it performed and my car has been perfect ever since. Since the fix I have left it idle for as long as a week or two and it started right up. Before the battery would be dead if I left it idle for about 3-4 days or more.
Thanks for the prompt. I took the car in today and they replaced the other TSB recommended changes.
All is well!!
I must say how impressed I am with Infiniti and the way they stand behind their product. I know not everyone has the same experience but so far so VERY good for me as this is my second warranty (but one could argue maybe not warranty) issue they've taken care of.

sorry to dig up a old thread, I wanted to add some words, it seems the original TSB involved Battery Replacement, Vent Control Valve Replacement, ECU/BCM Reprogramming.
I had this TSB done, and my battery is still dying, it seems after reading a bit more a updated TSB was released which required BCM being replaced, which the dealership never did.
TSB I had done with only ECM Programming - ITB10-010b - http://www.infinitig37.com/TSB/1ST34.pdf
I need to know the correct TSB number of the updated TSB that involves replacing the BCM also, or am I just confused here?
My Battery voltage reads 12.26 after being off for 24 hours and 12.05 after 96 more hours, I dont know if this issue is still related to the TSB and they should have replaced the BCM but went the cheaper route, it seems some cars you can just reprogram, and others you have replace the BCM, in my case they reprogrammed as far as the invoice indicates to me.
And My aftermarket Audio system is No where on or being powered, I have it totally disconnected, the car sits stock with no audio working. Anyone have any input on this, I will call Infiniti tomorrow but they act like they have no clue and just do whatever TSB I tell them.

Pick up a battery hydrometer and test the individual cells.
If your battery does not have a CCA 700 amp rating replace it with one that does.

Telcoman
I have the same issue as well .. Tsb changed battery and vent control and reprogrammed everything else .. Same issue .. Dead batteries .. They did not replace my bcm though ..
I am getting a audio shop looking into this and after that it's going to a reputable dealer who is nice about mods to your car so they won't blame it on other electronics, either way by the next week or so I will have figured out this issue, it's pissing me off and I will spend the money to get it diagnosed and figure out the culprit.
And far as replacing the BCM goes, it seems they only do that for certain serial #'s and most of the time reprogramming is all it needs.
If this audio shop cannot figure It out I will take it to Infiniti. And to the person who said I have a bad cell, well I had a Interstate megaton installed in it, after that I did the TSB and they replaced the battery with a bigger one from the M series which does up the CCA to 700+
Glad to know I'm not alone, but main thing is, all this started happening after I had my audio system installed and radar and other electronics. I have the audio system totally unplugged right now and the audio shop told me the voltage meter showed 12.26 and after 4 days of it being off it went to 12.05 and car still started but that's close to full power drain.
The guy at infiniti is very mod friendly and has been referred to me, he said he will put the car on another voltage meter that checks mA, so one way or another I will figure this out, anyone else have any experience with the issue still there after the TSB?

Can anyone tell me if this problem is excl on the 2008 G's or does it cqrry over to other model years? I have a 2010 G37 that has a dead battery after sitting for only 1.5 / 2 days, not even a full 2 days. I would like to answer this before I pop out and drop a grip 8f cash on a new battery that may turn out to not directly be the problem. I have no warranty through Infiniti but Carmax is covering me for another hundred thousand miles.
