Infiniti Fixing Dead (Dying) Battery Big-Time
My '08 G37 (purchased Fall of '08) frequently had a discharged battery if the car sat idle for more than a few weeks. I retired in late '08 (I know, really old am I) and began traveling, leaving the G in the garage. Everytime I returned home, the battery was dead, but could be restored with a jump or trickle charging. There have been several threads (this post could be merged into one if appropriate) about the problem, so I knew my issue was not unique.
I first complained to my dealer in late '09. They checked the battery and determined it was OK, no replacement needed. Of course, after two more absences from home of a couple of weeks each, the battery needed charging each time. Finally, I was recently gone for only five days. The battery was again dead. I called the dealer again, mentioning the TSBs I'd learned about in this forum. Now that the TSB has been issued the dealer knew what to do. My battery was replaced with a larger battery (for the FX series, I think) and the valve assembly control was replaced (that is the probable drain on the battery). Also, the dealer ordered a BCM (body control module?) and software for the ECM. After those are installed, the battery issue should be no more. If you've found your G with a dead battery, now is the time to get it fixed. :driving: |

darn...i left my car for about 3wks in the garage and car wouldn't start..went and bought a new battery instead of going to infiniti :(

Thanks for the post. I too am going to take this car in for those changes. I keep a CTEK battery charger on it all winter long because if I don't the battery goes dead real quick. I need to find the TSB number (I know it's on here somewhere).

My work order had the TSB number, as does that thread. #ITB01-010A. The work order shows the following parts replaced: Valve Assy - Control - 14935 - JF00A ASR Infiniti Battery - 999M1 - QC24F Special Ordered BCM Needs New ECM. Part is on backorder. In the other thread several posters left their coupes with the dealer until the BCM was obtained. My dealer said it would be several weeks and the bigger battery should stay charged until the BCM arrived. So, I drove home. If it discharges, I'll have to put the trickle charger to the battery one last time. When the ECM is applied to the BCM (?) the keys have to be reflashed as well. I expect my few custom settings will be gone. I think all were lost with the battery swap anyway. |

Here's a good example, on the 300C the subwoofer would beat every once in a while when the car was off. It sounded like a heartbeat. After updating the software for the sunroof control module (per the TSB), the problem was solved. The sunroof control module was not downpowering correctly and it would cause the sub to pound, how weird is that. |

damn i bought a redtop as well instead of going to the dealer... do you think if i bring in my completely dead infiniti battery they would help me do teh rest of the TSB not incl the battery upgrade?:confused2:

My battery was working. I explained I'd needed to charge it on numerous occasions after letting it sit idle for a week or two. My dealer accepted that description. I would hope your dealer, especially after the TSB was issued, would not give you a hard time. After all, Infiniti reimburses the dealership for the work.

I want to make sure I say the right things to my dealer. My issue is when I dont drive the vehicle for a week or two, the battery is dead. That has happened a few times.
