Help ipod connection

Hey guys...
So I've done the video ]-[/\C]< and got my ipod AV cables from eBay.
Music videos plays and shows on monitor but after 30-40 seconds, it blacks out.
Is there a setting I'm missing, or do I need the authentic Apple iPod AV cables??
