I recieved a letter from the Nav people last week telling me it's time to have my Nav updated at a cost of $149.00. So now I'm to take the activation code they give me to my dealer so they can get a piece of me too. The Nav people give the feeble reasons like " I'll save gas by updating the unit and leave a smaller carbon footprint" or some other laughable garbage. Funny how these extra costs are never mentioned when you buy the car. We should be that lucky. I think I'll wait for 2 or 3 years before I do the update and just take the chance I won't get lost. lol

Are different years updated the same? When I was trying to determine my Map dates I did see an option that stated something like "Insert Updated Map DVD".

That’s for older G’s that have a DVD based system. If you have a 9.3GB hard drive car, then the dealer must install the upgrade.

And as I posted in another thread, I updated my maps last week to the 10-11 version for my ’08 coupe. Other than two minor changes everything looks the same, and all my personal settings, stored CD’s and voice commands (I have the extended list that came with my early ‘08) remain the same.

The only changes I noticed was that the generic gas station icon appears on the map display for all gas stations even though the name brand icon is shown, a sort of redundancy; and when I select voice commands there’s an annoying extra phrase in the introduction that says, “or you may select help for a full list of voice commands” that I didn’t have before.

Almost correct. In the newer navigation system, >2010, they switched upgrade process. Since the newer navigation systems have a built in dvd player, they can update the map through the dvd drive. The compact flash port is eliminated.

Yes, but if you have the 2011 G37, you should already have the latest maps.

I think I have the 2009-2010 b but I could be wrong. From the little info I have I believe there was a recent update. My car was built in sept./oct. 2010.

Can anyone tell me what the latest maps are? I just picked up G37 Conv and found nav doesn't have my address in it's database. Maps shows as 09-10 version a. Dealer says that's the latest version, but seeing 10-11 maps being mentioned as available. Car was built Dec 2010. Thanks

^ Brother Bob, :-)
I think the maps updated after the first of the year, not sure. the current map, for my 2009 Sedan, is 2011 I think. Best to check the Navteq website NAVTEQ Map Updates and see what they have for your car currently.

As already shown in post #22 in this thread, I upgraded last month to the 10-11 version, so it’s safe to say that’s the latest version.
