Basslink II or 4080?

I have scoured this site for all the info on the Infinity Basslink II and 4080 enclosure. I love the price of the Basslink but not at the cost of crappy quality and sound.

1. What is everyone's take on this? Which one would you choose and why? 2. If you currently have either one, please let me know you experiences with this.

Thank you all in advance!

This is comparing apples and oranges. The basslink is a simple solution for people who are not as concerned with quality sound. The 4080 enclosure with at lease a 10W1 and a decent sub is in a different class. The sound is cleaner, crisper, louder with the 4080 setup.

I have a 4080 enclosure with a JL Audio 10w6 powered with a JL Audio 500/1 fed from a 2 fared capacitor. This setup is over kill.

A great setup would be a 4080 encludure with a JL Audio 10W3 powered by a JL Audio 250/1 amp. No cap needed for this setup.

If you're a golfer, you can't get the 4080 and a bag of clubs in your car at the same time. For this reason, I'm going with the Basslink when I get around to it.

The back seat folds down and I can fit 3 bags in the back if I wanted to. Of course I would only have 2 seats at that point, so more then enough room for 2 golf bags. I think someone said they can get 1 golf bag in with the 4080.

I decided to go with the 4080. I'd rather pay more for quality and based on my research, this is the way to go. Thanks all for your input.

I'm thinking about following your recommended setup since I don't know much about audio equipment. I checked the crutchfield website and they show a 2, 4, & 8 ohm JL 10W3. Which one should I get?

Planning to get...
4080 Enclosure
JL Audio 250/1v2
JL Audio 10W3v3-4 (I guessing 4-ohm)
8 gauge amp wiring kit

Anything else I might be missing or anybody have a better recommendation?

Another question...is there 2 different versions of JL Audio 10w3v3-4? I found the speaker on www.DealerCostCarAudio.com but the technical specification is different than the one shown on crutchfield. The part number on both sites are the same but the specs are way different.

Crutchfield is showing power range of 100-500 watts RMS and peak power 1000 watts.
www.DealerCostCarAudio.com is showing power range of 75-300 watts RMS and peak power 600 watts.

Thanks!

The Crutchfield specs are for the 10w6. The 10w3 4ohm, which I ordered has a RMS of 300w.

not really a fan of any of the boxes. 4080 is decent but id like a matching 1 for the other side. rather just go custom.

The sub on dealer cost is the same as the one on crutchfield. Dealer cost is taking the specs from the JL Audio spec chart for the 10W3 at the bottom of the JL Audio spec page below.

That's where I got my 10W6. They can take awhile to ship sometimes. And if it is out of stock it can take a long time. Check if it's in stock and if so that's the one to get.

And get the 4 ohm version.

I had the amp and sub installed and it does not sound like a 10 in back. More like a 12. The installers couldn't believe it either and said they wanted a box so clean and stealthy. I am extremely happy and recommend this to everyone who wants a bit of extra thump in the back.
