Just to clarify, it's just the historical screen that's grey, not the prior Fuel Ecomony screen? If you don't have that Fuel Economy (real time) screen then there's obviously a problem, but if you do highlight the middle section with the Average info/Reset button and hit enter. That's the reset button that causes the historical bars of the graph to be stored. There's no reset button on the historical graph screen (no options at all). The bottom of the graph reads Reset Interval and is confusing, but it's the axis heading, not a button. I agree that the owners manual is somewhat thin when it comes to explaining features. Let us know if this was your problem.
correct. the "prior" fuel economy screen works...its when i go to historical screen that not only is everything greyed out but no data is displayed either....keep in mind that i have had thie car for less than a month. (not sure if that graph displays monthly, daily or what!?
The graph adds a bar each time you press Reset on the real-time fuel economy screen while the number on the read-out is not "***"
So its not monthly, daily, or any of those things but whatever interval you press Reset at. I personally press reset each time I fill up my tank.

Or you can keep track the old fashioned way. Pen and paper - miles driven/divided by fillup amount. I'm getting just under 16mpg 80% city driving. Thats pretty bad, I know. 300miles/15gallons etc
mal_TX....that did the trick! thanks again.
blackfunk, old fashioned way is too much work for me LOL...im in sales and should be keeping a mileage log and dont! my bad. as far as mileage goes im still in the honeymoon phase since i drive a jeep liberty in winter months and compared to that beast the g37 is pretty good (in comparison)
