Freaking car killed my new ipod
I just bought a new 16G iPod specifically for use in the car. My stored music amounts to close to 30G and I didn't want all of it on the iPod so I can use shuffle on the whole thing and not hear a song I don't like. It took me nearly an entire Saturday to go through the collection and choose all the songs I wanted on it.
So it's been in the car for less than a week, working fine until this morning when I came out and it was DEAD AS A DOORKNOB. NONE of the usual tricks to revive it have worked.
It's one thing for the iPod interface to simply not work. It's another altogether when it actually kills the damn iPod into which you've poured a ton of both time and money--and it's the time that really kills me. I believe the killing" results from the failure of the interface to shut off the power of the iPod itself when the car is off.
I had an incident with a previous iPod where it simply stopped working with the interface, but didn't kill the iPod itself. The tech said it was all good and sent me packing.
This is complete BS!!!

You sure the battery just isn't dead? Since you said it is a 16g I assume it is a touch. I don't know if the touch is like the iphone and that the car won't charge it. Have you tried to restore it on your computer or plugged it into see if it turns on? I use my 80g classic everyday and have never had any problems.
^. Yeah, buy one of these, and you'll be fine. http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-Chargi...1217678&sr=8-1

I really don't think your car killed your iPod.....you know, Apple CAN occasionally have a defective product. I'd return it to the Apple Store, get a new one, and just upload your "favorites" back onto your new iPod.....you DID save that playlist, didn't you? Just a hint, always unplug your iPod from the adapter for good measure.

One thing I know is that the car won't charge my iPod or blackberry while it's turned off. Only while it's running.
iPods have died on people I have known, who didnt have G37s...yes its shocking. I had a friend who didnt charge his before he first used it, and that somehow ended up killing it (according to the apple nerds at the store).
Did you try reseting it? Hold the middle button and the menu button down for about 5 seconds. See if that turns it back on. Sometimes my 16g nano shuts off like that and i have to reset it. You dont lose anything by doing that. Oh and im pissed the nano doesnt charge. Its not supported. WTF!?
