New Poster, New Audio System JL, Eclipse Deck

Hi Everyone. I've been lurking on here for a while. I just had my system finished. I'd like to know what you all think. I'll take some pics tonight and post them. Here's what I have.

Eclipse AVN 7000 deck w/ DC 105 5.1
JL ZR 650 components in front doors
JL ZR 650 components at rear deck
JL 1000/1 for sub
JL 450/4 for components
JL 13w7 sub
Custom box/floor
No spare tire (I have AAA)

Let me know what you all think.

My installer had to move the G's "brain" (i.e. the computer that runs most of the electronics) to the trunk and extend all the harnesses back there. I had it done at Acme Tops and Tunes in Sacramento. Any input would be appreciated, good or bad. It was a lot of work.

Looks pretty good man. Your trunk is pretty much useless now though huh?

I wouldn't say "useless" haha it sounds pretty good! But yeah I can't put a golf bag back there or anything. The trunk was so small to begin with, though. That sub just needs so much space. I was going to go with a 10 but even then I would have only saved a little bit of space.

Well as for the HU they had to move the 6disc changer and the brain that's attached to it. The factory unit that runs the LCD screen and all it's functions is attached to the changer and it takes up too much space to allow for the after market HU to fit. So, my installer moved it to the trunk and extended all the harnesses to the trunk. Everything works as it did before the install, but now I have the NAV/DVD capabilities of the Eclipse deck. What I'd really like to do is run a video line to the LCD so that I can have two screens playing, but I forgot to ask them to do it. I'm sure they could have. My ipod input is now going to the deck so that still works as well.

nice setup. love the headunit, but prefer my 4080, which leaves the trunk useful.

Is the screen readable while you are driving, seems like the angle would be hard to see the screen. Also, with the screen up, is it a pain to adjust your climate control?

The screen is totally readable and there is no fade. The AVN 7000 has an adjustable screen. I can change the angle and the depth. I can reach around the screen and get to the climate control if I need to, although it's a little awkward.

Oh, and those are vents on both sides of the sub that reduce the pressure in the trunk and allow the bass to pass into the cabin. I was concerned that there would be way too much pressure in the trunk. I had a Acura CL before and it was a problem. The box is sealed, 1 inch MDF.

It's not my thing, but whatever floats your boat. While I think they did as good a job as ever making the HU "flow" with the rest of the interior, all aftermarket HUs make any interior look significantly cheaper IMO. But the trunk looks amazingly nice and clean, as long as you're not a golfer. If you like it, that's all that matters!
