Ipod Video

This might have been answered here before but I couldn't find my answer so.... I have a Ipod 32GB 1st Gen. and have a few videos on it. I cannot view the videos on the indash nav when the Ipod is connected via the supplied cable with the car. I am not using the A/V cable but the Ipod cable. I've tried viewing with the car in park and the parking brake set. Is this even possible to do? Thanks, Mark

Correct

Right, the video only shows when the yellow composite cable of the AV cable is used, and the display is in Aux and the Ipod is in TV out ON mode. The supplied Ipod cable can not be used with the AV cable because the IPod has to controlled by your hand and not the car and the car takes it over when plugged in and then you can't see the video because you are not in aux . I have not tried using the interface then switching to AV I forgot why it does not work.

What's a nono? I think you might be referring the the mod that is not allowed to be discussed. This is not a mod. The OP asked how to play a video with the car in park and the brake on. That is allowed by the car and by the forum.

KP Technologies mod still does not allow you to do the mod that is "not allowed to be discussed."

to the OP: you gotta get a ipod AV cable, which is like 50 bucks from the apple store. It goes from the bottom of your ipod to the AV connectors in the car (red, white, yellow). Then when the car is parked and ebrake up, you can go to AUX in the head unit, and it will play videos.

I think with the 1st gen ipods you dont need the fancy cable that goes in the bottom. I think you can use the basic RCA cable that comes out the headphone jack. Not 100 percent sure on that one though.

you need an iPod AV cable that connects to the 3.5mm output on your iPod. You plug that into the AUX inputs. Apple/RadioShack sell them around $20. It has an extra contact on the plug for the video.

Thanks for everyone's responses. I'm clear on what will and won't work. I'll try the composite cables. thanks again. Mark

^ I've tried the RCA cable with my iTouch and it works - ramdomly. It'll play sometimes but other times it won't. But I will try and get me the iPod AV that connects into the 3.5mm output. (see quote below)
Can someone verify this is guaranteed to work before I spend for a cable?

My 30 gig 5th gen. uses the cheap one and works fine.
