Replacement for oem bose sub?
Hey!
I've been searching the forums for the last 1.5 hours about replacement subs for the 2 10" subs in our doors, and still haven't found anything. Unlike most of you, i'm not willing to give up my trunk space, and secondly, i would really like a stock looking car. As most of you are aware, the bass in our coupes are complete crap! I wanna replace the Bose sub amp and the two 10" subs in the doors. Has anyone attempted to install those new thin subwoofers into their doors? Is there a clearance issue? Do the mounting holes match? or you have to drill new holes? Any other suggestions to increasing the bass? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I could be wrong, but a friend of mine who works in the business told me that all of the new thin sub designs don't offer that same deep thumping bass that you're probably looking for. While they are technically 10" in diameter, they don't deliver the same amount of bass response as a comparable 10" traditional sub.
Can anyone on here confirm or deny this?!?

I found these a few months back on Crutchfield, but are alot cheaper if you search the web. In previous posts, I thought the door clearance was close to 3" for the 10" door sub, so these might work. Here is the weblink: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130TSS2...h=pioneer+subs
Hope this helps

anyways to the OP I agree I dont want to give up precious trunk space and want to keep the system looking stock I would like to know this as well!
That Crutchfield site looks real good but its showing so many subwoofers as fitting the G37 I dont know how accurate their sizing system is. This Infinity sub right here has awesome reviews http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1081250...tml?o=r&tp=111
I have one question about these component subwoofers as Im an amateur to sound systems. Are they just replacing the stock subs and the stock amp would just power these instead and they would still perform up to par? do you NOT need an extra amp for these component subs? Someone answer.

coming from stock accords/camrys this may be better - but even then not by much....a true audiophile appreciates bigger better sound...i do, im just too poor to invest in a system right now

Anyways Im interested to find out more about replacing the subs with a component sub like the ones in the links above.
BTW nice friending you on Facebook Joe, my name is joe too lol.
It's sooo much easier to just get the 4080 enclosure, put a sub in and mount the amp onto your rear seats. I personally have the JL W3 with a JL 250/1 amp. It provides the bass I'm looking for without overpowering the rest of the system...

well coming from a highly modified acura with a full sound system...the bass produced by the oem 10" bose sub is complete crap...my other vehicle has 2 12" alpine type-r's and running a mono 300w amp to each...so i guess i'm just not use to the crappy bass produced by infiniti....
about the comment where u'll shatter the glass...u won't...
that pioneer sub might work as well....but need a guinea pig for that...
finally, reason why i say this system is crap is because bmw and mb pretty much has the same bose sound system, but their bass is much deeper and heavier than our infiniti's...i kinda wanna rip apart my friend's c-class and see what kinda bose equipment came with that car....

it is way easier to do a 4080 box...BUT i don't wanna sacrifice my trunk space at all...unless i do a custom box where i can mount it under my rear deck...

Coming from someone who has never installed any aftermarket stereo parts in a car, I have to agree. My father has a Toyota 4Runner with premium sound that produces more deep sonorous bass than my G. My sister's Grand Am GT definitely produces more bass from two 6x9's than my two 10's. And quite honestly, my mother's Mini Cooper S has by far the most thunderous bass that I have ever heard from a factory stereo system. Frankly, it's disappointing that three cars that cost almost half what my car costs have deeper, less distorted bass response than my G.
