Thats what I was going to suggest next. You can select destination and then preview fastest, shortest distance, avoid freeway, etc. You can see the differences between each and select which you prefer.

well I dont have the infiniti yet but on our mdx if u have it set for shortest distance instead of direct route or quickest time it might give u a route that is fewer miles but on slower route...
I would look through routing settings first

Yeah, the G37 Nav allows this, but it still doesn't choose the best route. Mapping my trip with Mapquest and Google Maps is much more accurate with the best route. I just would have thought our Nav would use similar route determination logic as Mapquest and Google Maps. Guess not because MQ and GM are far superior to the logic in our Nav.

Don't get me wrong... Locally I have 0 problems!

I beg to differ... See below for the Nav's determination of the fastest vs shortest route.

This shows what Infiniti Nav says is the Shortest Time...

This shows what Infiniti Nav says is the Shortest Distance...

Ummm... Why is the Shortest Time about and hour and a half longer than the shortest distance? Wouldn't these be the same?

EDIT: Even Min Freeway has a shorter time than the Shorter Time Option.

I agree our nav systems suck a**! I have had 2 Acura's and their nav systems are much better and easier to use in my opinion. Plus some of our options black out when you are driving which is retarded. I'm a grown a** man, if I want to type something or go thru my nav system that is my option damit especially if I am driving a $45k car!

The problem is not Infiniti's, but the manufacturer of the NAV.. who's name escapes me right now. It the programming that they have on the individual routes that need to be updated. Don't confuse the two.

The manufacturer is Zenrin USA.

And yes I do blame Infiniti as well. They should be using someone else. Something as obvious as this is rediculous.
