Phonebook w/o Nav
Phonebook w/o Nav
Hey all, new G owner here! Been trying to setup all the bells and whistles on my shiny new car, but I can't figure out how to get to the manual setup of the phonebook. I don't have a "phonebook" option in my settings menu, but I can setup entries manually using the voice recognition, which isn't optimal. Is this because I don't have nav? If that's the case, it doesn't make much sense - the premium package is what gives the bluetooth functionality, not the nav.
I am in the same boat as u, but unfortunately I believe we don't have the "phonebook" option to transfer numbers, you have to have NAV. I tried this back when I first got my G also, and like u didn't understand why it only works with NAV, guess it's a computer thing or something. This is why I never bothered to set up any phonebook options, I just dial from my quick keys on my phone, to lazy to manually put numbers into the G's phonebook one at a time.
Names
The best way I have found to do this is to speak the names to the phonebook using a multi-syllable name , like "Ginger Rodgers" as opposed to "Ginger" It keeps it different from Digger or Taninger.
Then when it asks for the number, then asks if you want to transfer the number using bluetooth, take the transfer option and transfer an existing cell phone contact number using the handset. Do it for each number you want for that name. Home, office, mobile.
By doing this, when you use that entry or if someone calls you from one of those numbers, the name it is associated with in your handset, comes up on the cars LCD. Otherwise you only get the phone number on the screen.
