Thank you for your e-mail. If we changed the name of our product every
time we make a change, the Valentine One would have a double or triple
digit number instead of One. We offer upgrades instead of producing a
new unit that obsoletes units purchased previously. A Valentine One
owner can check our web site to see if his/her unit is eligible for an
upgrade.

Looks like no V2, I don't think they understood my question but whatever.

Yeh but nothing's changed since 1992!!

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, but not even a blue LED.

I'll give you the benefit of doubt and assume your talking about cosmetic changes to the housing etc. as I'm sure you know that there have been improvements to the software...

Are you saying that no changes have been made to the V1 appearance since 1992??

Agreed about the V1 housing. It does serve a purpose, though. I believe it's capable of withstanding extreme temperatures without affecting performance. There have been many hot Houston, TX days that I have left the V1 baking in my windshield. The casing was literally hot enough to burn you, and it still powered up without a problem. Still does after years of use. BTW... I could care less about how a detector looks as long as it's doing its job.

I've owned several Escorts and Bels and purchased the V1 about 8 years ago. It still works perfect after all the miles I've put on it. When, if ever, this one poops out on me, I'll buy another. Why? Because the V1 does everything it needs to do. Just like on the advertisements, if there are two signals, one ahead and one behind, most detectors just beep, the V1 will tell you that there are 2 "Bogeys", one X band, one K band, one behind and one ahead. Because X is used for more than just police radar, and the K almost exclusively for police radar, the directional arrow from the K band arrow will blink, letting you know where the greatest threat is at while the X band arrow remains solid. Now if the K band is far away and the X band is close by, the arrow for the X band will blink letting you know that the X band is currently the greatest threat. You can't beat that kind of "Situation Awareness". Also, the only times I've been busted with the V1 in the car is with laser (and no detector can do anything about that) and when I forget to turn it on, LOL.

please pay attention to the question:

(Are you saying that the V1 is visually identical to the first 1992 version?)

I'm pretty sure that's what you meant; "not even a blue led" etc....

PLEASE, no one else answer this, leave it for DiamonndGCoupe...

They have definitely made the V1 casing thinner than when it originally came out, but other than that, it is pretty much the same

The Valentine One is the best at detecting radar and laser.

http://guysoflidar.com/august-2007/r...ctor-test.html

Size (from smallest to largest):

Valentine One -> 16.20 cu. in.
Bel RX65 Pro -> 16.33 cu. in.
Bel STi -> 16.33 cu. in.
Escort 8500 X50 -> 18.95 cu. in.
Escort 9500i -> 21.72 cu. in.

Weight (from lightest to heaviest):

Valentine One -> 181.5g (6.40 ounces)
Beltronics RX65 Pro -> 236.6g (8.35 ounces)
Escort 8500 X50 -> 253.7g (8.95 ounces)
Escort 9500i -> 269.2g (9.49 ounces)
Beltronics STi Driver -> 291.6g (10.29 ounces)

The Escort 9500i is the largest in size and the Bel STi Driver is the heaviest. The Valentine One is the smallest and lightest radar detector of the top 5 radar detectors made today.

Does it look big and heavy to you?

I have it mounted right below the rear view mirror using the suction cups to attach to the windshield. I will try to take a picture later....

Actually, they've made the casing smaller over the years if I'm not mistaken. I coulda sworn my buddy's in undergrad was bigger.

When the first V1 came out in 1992 it had a small case. It got bigger when they added laser detection. Later on they improved their laser detection which allowed them to make it smaller again.
