Because of the integration factor.. They know we'll pay to have it nicely integrated into our cars. Fortunately the G's "Nav" package include more than just a screen and a DVD-Rom.

A car looks MUCH better with integrated navi than without IMO. It's the first thing one notices when going into their cars. Plus it's conveniently interfaced with steering wheel controls and much larger than its third party counterparts.

Of course, there are disadvantages as well (price, upgrades, etc).

i guess. but i also think car companies sell more than third party PLUS they know they can charge us that much so they do... and that sux. for example. i didnt get the navi pkg however i still got the large monitor! so wait... im paying 2k+ for the software and the little things they throw in for giggles that cost infiniti close to nothing to make standard? ionno.

Simple... because they still sell them. When they see a marked drop in Nav package sales.. they'll drop the price. I have a Nuvi 680 ($900 GPS)that I love and still bought the Infiniti nav, it's real handy having it integrated and not hanging from your window. On long trips the Nuvi comes with since it has features the infiniti system doesn't have.

You're paying for the software/hardware (including back-up cam), the integration, and Infiniti engineering to have it all packaged together and warrantied.
