Climate Control question

Is it possible to turn off AC and and set the intake air control to recirculate? For me when select to recirculate the AC comes back on. I can't figure this out somehow. Thanks.

I noticed this also and I find it very irritating.

Thanks for confirming. I thought I was doing something wrong; reading the manual, etc. Glad I'm not the only one that thinks this is a bit odd.

its pretty annoying too, cause you do get worse gas mileage if your A/C is on while you are driving.

I believe you can hold down the recirculate button which will tell it to set the climate control to manual. But check the owner's manual to confirm.

Yes, the main reason for me to turn off the AC is gas. Also I don't want the compressor running all the time.

And about that "auto" controlling the intake by holding down for 2 sec, is it still in auto mode if you turn off the AC? The manual doesn't explain much on. Has anyone seen the LED flip back and forth between the open and recirculate?

From the manual:
When the front defroster button is pushed, the air conditioner will automatically be turned on at outside temperatures above 23°C (25°F) to defog the windshield, and the air recirculate mode will automatically be turned off.
The air recirculation mode cannot be activated when the air conditioner is in the front defrosting mode.
In the AUTO mode, the intake air will be controlled automatically. To manually control the intake air, push the intake air control button. To return to the automatic control mode, push the intake air control button for about 2 seconds. The indicator lights (both air recirculation and outside air circulation sides) will flash twice, and then the intake air will be controlled automatically.

^^^^ yeah but I'm not talking about the defroster button. I'm not touching that at all. As for the Auto mode the manual simply states that the intake is controlled automatically. It doesn't say how the car determines when to take fresh air in or recirculate. I think someone in another thread already said that there is no smog detector in our car like Lexus does so how does G know when to open and close?
