last played audio turns off shortly after car is started?

I leave the car in any audio listening mode, say XM radio, and shut the car off. When I come back and start the car, it turns on the audio I last left with. Sometimes though, it shuts it back off after a couple of seconds. If I push the audio ****, it turns on, but in the wrong mode.

Anyone else experience this or any idea what is going on? It can happen when I'm parked outside, so it's not a satellite radio signal lost. For a while I thought it was occurring when I went to reverse (maybe a safety feature?) but I was able to rule this out too.

Did you park your car in a garage or other location where the satellite signal has been blocked? The receiver buffers a few seconds of audio so entering the garage will not instantly interrupt the audio. Does this happen with any other sources?

I thought that was it PPC, but it happens when I park outside too. Maybe it is playing out the buffer nonetheless and has not acquired the signal since restarting.

I think I'm experiencing a similar issue. Whenever I turn the car on, say while on XM or FM, after about 10 seconds, it changes to the iPod, but doesn't play. I shouldn't have to disconnect the iPod to prevent this should I?

Mine does the same thing. I just pulled the ipod. I wasn't using it much anyways. The XM also resets to channel 1 sometimes. Haven't found a pattern for that one yet.

It is because your ipod is completely dead, and take a few moments to come back to life at which time the sound system switches to it because it thinks you just plugged it in.

It is an issue with the ipod not getting turned off by the head unit, or the ipod never timing out. It is in perpetual pause when you turn off the car. There are other threads about it.

Annoys the crap out of me.

Dang, that sucks. I read that it really wears on the life of a lithium ion battery to stay drained. Best to keep it topped off as much as possible. I guess our only workaround is to manually shut the ipod off each time.

"shut the ipod off each time"

I don't know, I'm pretty lazy. :-) But I think you are right, lions only have so many charges in them. There must be some pin on the dock other than charging power that is not being turned loose on power off.

I bet this is end user hackable.

Yes, when the iPod powers up the car thinks you just plugged it in and thus it is trying to help you by automatically selecting your freshly plugged in accessory.
I can't get my iPod to turn off when connected either -- it makes a beep sound every time I press any button on it.

Annoying.

I bought this: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-UsiYKDU...x?I=581PA11NIS for my g35 coupe and didn't have this turning off/on problem whatsoever. Therefore, I'm assuming this is an issue with the (new) car?
