Mounting a 3rd party GPS?

I have a Garmin Nuvi 650 and am having trouble deciding on a mounting solution in my G37. Has anyone installed a 3rd party GPS in their G? If so, I would love to see what you did.

The suction cup mount on the windshield will not work for me (illegal in CA).

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
I really doubt that you will get hassled for using the suction mount on the windshield if you mount it low. I think the spirit of the law is to prevent people from putting up things that will block or compromise their forward vision. It's also illegal to hang ANYTHING from your rear view mirror yet I see people with all kinds of things hanging there everyday... My personal pet peeve is the handicap placards; they say not to leave them there when driving right on the placard and damn they block a lot of forward vision! If you put the Garmin somewhere low and not blocking your vision, you should be fine. Just imagine, how about some other stupid homemade mount on the dash that holds the GPS up real high, would that be okay simply because it's not attached to the windshield?? Lots of people use suction mounts for GPS and those little note holders in California.

I just got that same GPS for someone special for Xmas, a rippin' deal from Costco!
