ipod question

okay ive been lookin for the answer. do you have to buy the cable or it comes with the car i have the premium package no nav. I have a cable laying around the house that plugs into the headphone jack of the ipod and audio of the car but that works in aux mode and sucks because you have to manually control the ipod rather than changing songs via your stereo

check first to see if you have the input port inside the center armrest console. the ipod jack plugs into the bottom of the ipod and into that port. the factory jack comes with the cars that are equipped, so i have my doubts that just purchasing the cable will allow you to control the ipod.

If you get NAV, it comes with the iPod integration which shows all your songs and stuff on the screen. It comes with cable.

If you don't get NAV, you can connect with AV Auxillary ports. You will need to supply your own cable.

According to infiniti.com build your Infiniti configurator, you only need the Premium package to get:

Infiniti Interface System for iPod®

This has to mean both the controls through your console/stereo and the cable. So, I guess you don't need the Nav package.

i know i have the ipod integration cause it says ipod not connected even though it is its just connected through the audio cable inside the arm rest to the ipod headphone jack. it only works when i hit the aux button and from there i have to pick my ipod up and change the songs rather than changing it from my stereo. what cable do you need for the ipod to be recognized as connected and controlled by the stereo cause i cant find it, or where can you buy it

Sounds like you don't have the right cable to properly "dock" the ipod with the car. Some people reported finding theirs in the trunk or glove box. I'd hit up your dealership for one if you can't find it. They'll probably have to be the ones to order a replacement for you if they don't know where they put it, but it'd be lame if they charged you. It'd be like not getting an owner's manual or your extra key with a new car.

If you look in the arm rest, there should be a slot or connector that looks rectangular. That is were you need to plug in the IPOD cable. The cable you are using sounds like AV cables for the IPOD which is not used for the IPOD setup on the car. Take a look in the arm rest. It should be on the side closest to the driver side.

You must use the iPod cable that came with the car (it is a black cable). Look inside your trunk or glove compartment for it.

Yeah, the AV cable was in the center console. The iPod cable was in the leather kit with all the paperwork/manuals.
