Just so everyone is aware, the JL 10W7 will not fit this enclosure. It is too big for it.

After discussing with 4080 I was explained in a way that I should not get the 10W7 because it will not fit, plus then I will need a new battery and upgraded alternator, blah blah (telling me some things irrelevant to my question).

I have had my 10W7 and 500/1 Amp for about 5yrs now. Never needed an upgraded alternator and certainly am not downgrading for this enclosure. In my opinion while this is enclosure is great for the G community, if it is only able to fit certain subs, this does will hurt their business. It limits you to certain subs you have to purchase. To tell you the truth I dont even think the 10W7 will fit in that corner of our trunk. It's pretty good size (search if you dont know what this thing can do).

Just thought I would share my comments and I will be having my audio/video shop custom make an enclosure for me.

I've heard the IDQ MAX's are also too big for this enclosure.

Most people are using 10w6v2's in this enclosure. I think one guy is using the Image Dynamics IDQ10 with sucess too.

You will definitely be fine with the current alternator with that amp/sub. lol

That's exactly what I mean. Don't recommend me and everyone and their mother to the 10w6v2 sub. Just because that is the only sub that fits. You now just limited your who enclosure business to that sub, not a good idea IMO.

I had a yellowtop battery in my acura and no dimming of lights on the stock alternator. This sub puts out 1500watts.

I'm surprised they won't work with you to create a bigger box (for a bigger $$$ obviously). They already have the contours of our trunk in a mold, so just expanding the rest of the box outward a few inches inches shouldn't be too difficult (one would think).

Are you going to get a local shop to help you fabricate a box for you then?

I'm like you...I wouldn't give up my stereo equipment that I know sounds great just because it doesn't fit what some company wants. I'll do custom work before I give up my equipment...especially when it's a downgrade!

I took my car to my audio guy and the 10W7 wont even fit in that little corner so it will have to be a custom built box mounted in the back of the trunk w/ the amp. Completely fine because then I have all of the front of the trunk for space.

Guess things were just not meant to be w/ this company.

lol

At least you'll have something that'll be made specifically for your sub. That way you know it'll sound good for sure! I don't care how good a sub is, if the box built built right (to the specs it was intended by the engineers who designed the sub), it can make even the crappiest sub sound amazing (for what the sub was designed to do of course).

I would definitely love to see pics and read about your impressions once it's installed!!!

Zenclosures makes a box just like that for around $135.

With a sub like the W7, it's best to get a custom box.

Drew, not many people understand the capabilities of the W7 so I usually just let the comments slide. LOL

After I installed the sub at my friends store, they were testing it out in the back and a customer inside the store asked me if I had 2 12's in my car. I laughed and said no, I have only 1 10" with a 500/1 amp. And even the store owner said, "Yeah, that box is what's making it hit, a sealed custom box is always good." The sub hits so hard, I had to adjust the settings after I left my friends place but after a few setting changes, I love my system! Looking into getting some components later on but these will do for now. Enjoy the pics!</p>
